The Ustaphar are one of three distinct ethnic groups among the Vaikun.

They are shorter and stouter than their Hrat'azi and K'iolaa cousins and have distinctly bluish skin along with more more exotic coloring such as silver hair, red eyes or pale stripes along their backs. Their teeth are sharper and they have more refined features. They are known to be the most psychically potent ethnicity as well as the most mystically bent. The Ustaphar are also the least numerous of the Vaikun, numbering in the 100,000s rather than the millions. They come from the center of Lanthanos, where the sun has burned away the atmosphere and many believe their dark, bluish skin was a reaction to  the harsh climate and a way of reflecting UV radiation.
