The City Watch of Thorvahld is capably handled by Vonsam Aris, who has run it for the last ten years. While it has a long and distinguished history, most notably, Heroe Adoria was recently deputized for his services in quelling a riot that broke out at a whaling job talk, which later turned out to be a pressgang.

Watchmen are recognizable by their black cloaks and bright gold-leaf on their shields. As they rise through the ranks they take on the crest of the three Animal Gods which Tyrako defeated: the Boar, Crocodile and Lion. As a result they are somtimes referred to as boars (low ranking guardsmen and deputees), crocs (petty officers and riot guards) or lions (watch-officers and chief lieutenants). The Watch Commander is sometimes called the Black Lion.
