Description

  Slaanesh is hermaphroditic, bisexual, auto-erotic god of debauchery, corruption and nihilism and - first and foremost - a god(dess) of perversion and the profane. It is known that s/he created the vampyr as the perfect instaciation of the perverse.

  What many fail to understand about Slaanesh, however, is that at the root of all, Slaanesh is not attatched to any philosophy or form of sexuality. Rather as a god(dess) of corruption and nihilism, Slaanesh seeks to push the envelope of all human behavior. Sexuality seems to be an ever fruitful venue for this, but if a society became libertine, Slaanesh might advocate conservative prudishness. If homosexuality becomes naturalized in society it ceases to interest Slaanesh. Cultists of the debauched god(dess) believe they move towards perfection by fulfilling the god(dess)'s will, when in reality they are Slaanesh's most tragic victims. The only true worshiper of the god(dess) of corruption is the one who believes in nothing, and seeks only to corrupt others in a sadistic desire for both nihilism and sorrow.

 

Iconography

  S-he is usually represented as having very full breasts and an impossibly large, prehensile phallus. Every aspect of the god is beauty incarnate and seductive enough that even a statue has been known to arouse those who behold it. Slaanesh is always portrayed wearing a horsehair crested helmet with a slit in the center small enough that it allows no one to see beneath. Cultists maintain that this helmet is for the protection of the viewer because Slaanesh's face is so beautiful that it cannot be safely seen by mortals. However, others have suggested that Slaanesh's face is the soul of corruption and that to look on it is to be so disenchanted with the world that suicide is the only possible response. Both positions agree that the visage is deadly.

 

Symbols

  His/Her symbols include many stylized forms of male and female genitalia, oysters, rhinoceri and other aphrodesiacs, all kinds of fruit (especially oranges), and numerous phallic and vaginal objects: eels, staves, open gates, almonds, mandorlae, acorns etc.

Cult History

  Cult lore states that the god(dess) could not be satisfied with a single sex and so became a hermaphrodite.

  Most of his/her cultists practice forms of bizarre sexual intercourse: orgies, homosexuality, sado-masochism believing this will please the god(dess).

  Slaanesh, in his/her misunderstood form as perverse fertility god(dess) is the most widely worshiped of all the chaos gods, with splinter sects throughout most of the civilized world. S-he is especially popular among the bored and and listless ranks of the aristocracy, hungry for some new trend or wickedness to absorb them. These aristocratic cults include the Rainbow Veil, the Rotten Orange, Liaisons Dangereuses, the Bloody Eel and the Shattered Oyster.

  The real danger, however comes from the Jade Scepter, who have begun to realize that Slaanesh is more than a naughty god(dess) of discrete encounters. The Jade Scepter takes "defile, deflower, dethrone" as their motto and seek to apply the principles of sexual corruption to governmental overthrow and anarchy. This puts them almost in-line with the popular Tzeentch cult, the Purple Hand. However, worship in the Jade Scepter is still almost identical to that found in the lesser aristocratic cults. In reward for their efforts, however, the Jade Scepter have been granted their namesake object, a phallic staff of intense corruptive power.

 

  The Vampyr worship Slaanesh in their own way, some would say with more accuracy and dignity. There are no cults among vampyr, but seldom does one find one who does not in someway venerate their progenitor god(dess).

 

Daemonic Thralls

  Slaanesh created many daemons to serve his/her will. Incubi and Succubi are responsible for seduction and nightmares, sewing malcontent, arousing desire, creatig fear and occasionally raping their victims. Rape, it should be noted, however, is considered a part of K'horne's domain, not Slaanesh's on the principle that seduction implied the willing self-corruption of the victim and is therefore more useful to the god(dess). Additionally Slaanesh commands Fleshwyrms which serve as steeds for his/her most corrupt champions.

  The Vampyr, obviously, for the most part, serve Slaaneshi ends and lead a quasi-demonic existence.
