Description

He was born of the despair that the first chaos worshipers felt upon seeing the results of their hope and nihilism. Nurgle takes a keen interest in his followers adopting a fatherly or grandfatherly affection for them. He often refers to his cultists as his children.

Iconography

He is usually represented as a massive and bloated man, ripped open and covered with oozing, festering sores and wounds. More often than not, his own entrails, slimy with mucuous, disease and rot, hang limply from his distended stomach.

Cult History

For the followers of Nurgle, life is disease filled horror, and in that despairing, hopeless existence all that we can do is be kind to one another and show compassion. That compassion is, more often than not, shown by spreading disease. After all, when everyone is dying in agony and vomiting blood, everyone can finally be on equal footing. The whole world suffers in consonance and nobody suffers more than Papa Nurgle.

During the Age of Legends, Nurgle was killed when his avatar, Isolde von Bluterbrechen was purified by the spirit of Mother of Waters.
