Mother of Waters
The Mother of Waters [see also: Ivor Lake] is a translation of the aelven word Hathadialura, given as a name, to the world's largest lake (now Ivor Lake) in mid-northern Harkania. The bottom of the Lake also once contained a now-sealed fissure in the earth which led into a vast, thaumic expanse which some have termed the demi-plane of water. Others simply call it the Deep. It is there that the diety of the lake dwells.
It is also the name of the primordial diety who makes the lake her cult site. The Mother of Waters is the mystical, demonic spirit of all freshwater in the Circle and on some level, all river and lake gods are her offspring in some way shape or form.
The lake and the diety are both said to have mystical healing powers which can restore sanity and normality of form, lost through chaotic taint and even damage and destroy beasts of chaos. Unluckily for the denizens of the Circle, this is no longer true. All the purifying power of the Mother of Waters was leeched from it, when the diety, at the request of Quintus Martius Arcanus, used the whole of her power to purify and thereby destroy the plague god Nurgle. As a result, the waters of the lake are crystal clear and the creatures that dwell in it, as well as the surrounding forests watered by it, have been drained of all pigment.
