Merod Lightbinger (983-1026 PA) was perhaps the most famous man in the history of Harkania: a conqueror, visionary, and ultimately a martyr to the cause of bringing the Phael to the far reaches of the world.

Merod Lightbringer was born Merodino Tiano, a squire to the influential knight, Castiano Vinostanzo, in the city of Psicora. He claimed from a young age to be the recipient of visions given to him by St. Inoxpheles, telling him that he needed to spread the word of the phael to distant lands and reclaim the Sevillan birthright lost 2300 years ago.

Over the next twenty-five years, the newly christened Merod Lightbringer built an army from the villagers and conquered dissident tribes, eventually establishing the LIghtbringer empire before finally dying in battle against the Asele tribe with their demonized ruler, Ukele the Faceless.  The Lightbringer empire fell apart in the next two centuries before crumbling into city-states.
