Ivortown is the capital city of the Whitelands of Harkania. It is located on the Northwest coast of Ivor Lake, very close to the island of Reved.

The area which it now occupies was first settled nearly 4000 years ago by refugees from the doom of Fort Terremirius, on the coast. After the Battle of Reved, Sevinic farmers and laborers who could not find work on Reved, departed for the coast and founded a small settlement.

Over the years the Sevinic roots of this town have been lost, conquering armies have supplanted various rulers and the city of Ivortown was founded by Merod Lightbringer when he passed by Ivor Lake around 1010 PA and deemed the site of the small village that occupied the northwest shore "the most beautiful location he had ever seen." He settled there for a year, surveying the surrounding countryside and when he left, he gave the city over to three of his greatest generals. The generals took on Harkanian names from the countryside around them, seeing as their fortune and lives would be made in this new land. Calling themselves Juniper, Whitetree and Glasfish, they built the town to honor the memory of Merod Lightbringer, when news of his death three years later reached them. Due to its excellent farming location and the picturesque quality of the surrounding woods and plains, the city grew in size, becoming wealthy and powerful.

During the Sevillan Occupation, two more noble houses were raised to ruling status within the city: Savage and Danton. Ivortown was one of the first cities to throw off the yoke of Sevillan oppression which furthered its reputation as a central Harkanian locale.

Today the city is known for its high proportion of aristocrats who live within city walls, leaving their holdings to be tended to by servants and lesser heirs. No doubt this is the result of the five noble families keeping a manor in town as well as significant holdfasts in the surrounding countryside. This has also made the city one of the cleanest and safest in the whole of Harkania. Order is maintained, in part, through a brutal justice system which locks all criminals in a labyrinthine series of cells below the city. The Ivory Shadow, as it is called, often brings criminals to trial but rarely allows them egress from their subterranean holdfasts. Lord Horaytio Glasfish holds the seat of Justice in the city and controls the Ivory Shadow in addition to the courts.  Other ruling aristocrats include Alyster Whitetree, Rycoin Juniper (Military), Sibelius Danton (Economy) and Dorian Savage (Society).
