Heroe Adoria is a 19 year old human from Ensaros, in Sevilla.

background

Heroe Adoria (1680-present) was born in Jualize, Ensaros to Benvolio Adoria, a wealthy merchant, and his wife Larina. Benvolio made his money heading north of the Empire to the hinterlands of the former Pena family estates, now called The Border House, a trading outpost between Sevillan merchants and the various traders and shopkeeps of the wilds of Mok'Tur. Considered to be a trafficker among beasts and savages, Benvolio was shunned by the Ensarosi gentry and middle class, already nervous about their marginal social standing. No one could argue with his money, however, and though his father was shunned, Heroe grew up in relative comfort. He would often accompany his father to the Border House where he became a favorite of numerous Mok'Tur dignitaries, including the Gnoll Warrior-Prince Chik-chik and the legendary Ch'Karn brave, Swims-with-Whales. The most influential of these, however, was Queen Bokabi, the enigmatic Orkish Highmother and then matriarch of Gokwood. Bokabi read Heroe's palm in one particularly memorable visit and told him he would be "a hero beyon compare, doomed forever to wander the Circle in search of a worthy battle." The fortune affected Heroe deeply.

Benvolio's wealth allowed him to send his magically talented son to Seagarden, where he was able to study under the Phaeldar, school of the Dragon. Trained to use magic to augment his combat prowess, Heroe was steered towards the life of a man-at-arms, or perhaps a great knight, but this was not to be. Heroe's wanderlust, and his inherent distrust of what he considered to be the corrupt Sevillan Government, led him to wander north into Mok'tur after his graduation. He settled in the Kisugochi town of Tato-Kune and was employed by the governor, Iabu Oematse. He became close with the governor's youngest daughter, Setsune, but when the possibility of a romantic relationship was discussed, the governor was outraged. He banished Heroe and, falsely believing Setsune to have already become sexually involved with Heroe, had her executed. Heroe left the Kisugochi Empire in disgrace.

From there, Heroe came to Harkania, still grieving from what he considered to be his own culpability in Setsune's death. He moved from contract to contract, turning in bounties when he could find them and protecting the innocent whenever he could afford to. Jaded by the cruelty of the world, Heroe took fewer and fewer jobs, sorting them on the basis of their moral correctness. Nearly starving, and at the height of his despair, he signed on to protect a carriage train as it was headed south from Ivortown to Bogenhafen. On the road down, he discovered the body of Heimdall Leiberung, then prefect-primus of the Purple Hand, inside a carriage attacked by Searland mutants. Leiberung, though Sear, older and paler of skin, bore a striking resemblance to Heroe. So much so, that Heroe has since been continually mistaken for the dead cultist. At a roadside Inn, Heroe and his new companions discovered that the Inn had been overtaken by mutated followers of Tzeentch. He fought them off and was arrested by Roadwardens the next morning. Taken to the prisons in Ivortown, he and his fellow mercenaries met up with Monica Jasmine and Juliette Kustinof in prison.

Act I: Shadows Over Bogenhafen

The party was reprieved from prison by Dorian Savage, but the lordling's plans for Heroe were somewhat sinister. Believing him to be Leiberung, he tried to have Heroe killed. At the last moment, Heroe convinced him that he was an unknowing, unwitting doppleganger and instead of being slaughtered, Heroe was sent with the rest of the party on a mission to Bogenhafen to kill Johannes Tugen, a chaos sorcerer and wealthy merchant.

Act II: Death on the Sear

Over the course of the adventures along the the Sear, Heroe fell in love with Terra, a reformed prostitute from Ivortown, now member of the party. After their first kiss, however, Heroe was too burdened by this upswell of emotions, and the guilt of betraying Setsune's memory. He fled the party with the intention of turning his back permanently on the forces of chaos. Ironically he was picked up by the Twisted Companions, a mercenary company of mutants, led by the despicable beastman, Sir Crakatz, and then under the leadership of the unholy Tzeentchian scion, Ulfhednar. The Twisted Companions tortured Heroe for days, and finally, after exposing him to a warpstone blade, threw his bruised and broken body back into the party's path. Rejoined with them, Heroe found an enemy worth fighting in Tzeentch's chaos.

He redicated himself to fighting the chaotic corruption in the Searland, even as his body began to mutate from the warpstone exposure. Despire his hatred of Tzeentch and the chaos, he still maintained a rigid moral code, going so far as to behead Margritte von Wittgenstein out of mercy, when Monica sought to torture her.

Act II Intermezzo

Heroe, after killing Emile Rousseau, revealed to Monica and subsequently to the party that he had begun to mutate. It temporarily soured his relationship with Terra, though it was resolved soon after, as the party moved down the Sanka'a to the City of Thorvahld.

Act III: The Power Behind the Throne

Thorvahld's minotaur fights were one of the main reasons for Heroe's journey to Harkania. During Festivale week there, he was deputized was a member of the City Watch for his heroic efforts in staunching a press-gang riot at a whaling lecture. More recently he managed to slay the Minotaur in the local fights, only to have it revived by a mote of chaos which was flung into it by Upton.

appearance

Heroe stands 5'9 with dark, olive skin and gray eyes. He has large features, broad round shoulders and closely cropped dark hair. Though muscular and strong, Heroe's real talent lies in his almost superhuman endurance. His body bears numerous scars from countless brawls, a nose that has been broken numerous times, dislocated shoulder injuries and more than his fair share of stab wounds. Since the chaos took over his body he has been growing a long, whip-like tail and developing a third eye in the middle of his forehead. The former is disguised by his greaves, the latter by a bandana.
